This morning a Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 carrying humanitarian aid took off for Northern province of Afghanistan Mazari-Sharif.

The plane is carrying tents, canned food and sugar. In all, there are over 38 tonnes of relief supplies on board.

A Russian Emergencies Ministry Ilyushin Il-76 plane has landed at the airport of Kabul.

Pursuant to the order of the RF Government the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan received humanitarian aid: a mobile power station, tents, blankets, sets of crockery, foodstuffs – in all, about 38 tonnes of humanitarian goods.

As part of the contribution of the Russian Federation into the UNO World Food Program Fund and the International Civil Defense Organization EMERCOM of Russia is rendering humanitarian aid to several foreign countries.

In the end of June 38 carriages of wheat flour which is about 4 thousand tons were sent to Afghanistan following the UNO World Food Program. The carriages are on their way now. Mine neutralization works are going on in the Nicaragua Republic as part of the International Civil Defense Organization.

The first three railway cars, laden with 15,000 liters of vegetable oil, 30 tons of poultry meat, 28.5 tons of canned vegetables and 5 tons of soup concentrates, left Noginsk, near Moscow, for Afghanistan's Hairaton on August 30.

Kuprienko, head of the Emergency Situations Ministry task force, has reported. Another four humanitarian convoys, laden with 724.4 tons, are currently on their way from Osh, Kyrgyzstan, to Faizabad.

The Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia is embarking on the second phase of the international humanitarian relief operation for Afghanistan. A ministry task force, led by Major General Pavel Kupriyenko, on March 14 flew to Osh, Kyrgyzstan, for coordination of the planned operation, Yuri Brazhnikov, Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations, has announced.

According to him, the second phase of the operation will start on March 15 and last until May 31.
