OCHA’s Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) was launched in 2014 as a ReliefWeb Labs project. The goal was to help humanitarians find and share data. Ten years later, HDX is an integral platform for the humanitarian community: 219 organizations sharing more than 20,000 datasets, covering every active humanitarian crisis, with more than a million users in 230 countries and territories.
As the idea for HDX was forming in late 2013, the team conducted a survey through ReliefWeb that sought to understand our community’s needs and perceptions of humanitarian data. To mark the 10th anniversary of HDX, the team is revisiting some of the same foundational questions through another survey. It asks about the intended use of data, how it is accessed, and the main challenges with using it. For those who use HDX regularly, there is also an option to provide feedback on the platform.
We encourage you to take 10 minutes to complete the survey and help shape the future of HDX and humanitarian data.
