Video reporting has increasingly become an effective way for humanitarian organizations to communicate the work they undertake. However, with millions of videos online finding quality humanitarian videos can be challenging. So to give you easy access to humanitarian videos, we’re trialling a new ‘Videos’ section at ReliefWeb Labs.

This ‘beta’ Videos section is being launched with more than 700 videos from over 130 different humanitarian organizations. New videos are being added daily and all are sourced from ReliefWeb’s extensive list of humanitarian content providers.

As you've probably noticed, we've just made some changes to ReliefWeb’s design and usability. These changes are designed to help you more easily navigate through ReliefWeb and are based on the feedback you provided in our recent user survey.

For many years, users have been telling us that they love the filters. However, you've also been telling us that their usability and functionality could be improved. So we've made some changes, added some new filters and created improved advanced search that will help you easily dig down into the wealth of humanitarian information available in ReliefWeb’s 18-year content archive.

Here is an outline of what you can expect and how you can make the most of your ReliefWeb experience.

Over the past 17 years, more than 5,000 humanitarian organizations have supplied ReliefWeb with 540,000 pieces of humanitarian related information.

So to help you easily find what you’re looking for, from within our vast humanitarian information archive, we've created a new section called ‘organizations’. Now you can choose to find humanitarian information by either updates, countries, disasters, topics or ‘organizations’.

This new section provides you with an at-a-glance look at the content available from a particular humanitarian organization. You can further filter results by the type of organization (eg. NGO, international org, media etc) or by the country/region in which they are located.

2013 has been a big year for ReliefWeb! We collected and published over 42,000 humanitarian updates and launched many new initiatives such as Topics pages, the ReliefWeb mobile site and APIs. There were over 11.8 million visits during the year and we reached the amazing milestone of publishing 500,000 reports and maps since our launch in 1996. But that’s now in the past! So looking forward in this blog update, we want to give you a little snippet of what’s to come in 2014.
