‘Militias’ rape five displaced women, torture 12 in West Darfur

MURNEI (19 Jun.) - Five displaced women from Murnei camp in West Darfur were raped near Ajakh Nari this week as they made their way from the camp to their farms.

Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that ‘armed militiamen’ intercepted the women, threatened them at gunpoint, and “raped them alternately”.

Syria’s internally displaced – ‘The world has forgotten us’

On a recent visit to a camp near Atmeh, just inside Syria near the Turkish border, some 21,000 people were sheltering amid hellish conditions.

Heavy rain leaked into the tents and had turned the clay soil into thick slippery mud, raw sewage flowed between the tents. The food being distributed was insufficient and of very poor quality and large numbers of people complained of medical conditions for which they were receiving no treatment.

In order to match the needs and current context in Somalia, it was decided to enable a transfer of EUR 11 700 000 form the Food Aid Budget Line to the Humanitarian Aid Budget Line.

This change aims at better reflecting the funding allocation to various planned Actions, following a thorough selection of partners and related proposals for Somalia.

République Centrafricaine (RCA) Rapport de situation No. 20 (au 14 juin 2013)

Points saillants

  • Les résultats de l’évaluation du Mécanisme Rapide de Réponse (MRR) menée par ACTED du 18 au 30 mai 2013 dans les Préfectures de la Kemo, Ouaka, Basse Kotto et Mbomou, ont révélé des besoins humanitaires dans les secteurs suivants: santé, eau et l’assainissement (WASH), la protection, l'éducation et la sécurité alimentaire.

  • 15.902 personnes ont reçu l’assistance en WASH.

  • 141 enfants, dont 15 filles ont été libérés suite à des discussions en cours entre les Nations Unis et le gouvernement de transition de la RCA.
