OCHA adds 500 free humanitarian symbols to communications tools and services

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian affairs (OCHA) has created a set of 500 freely available humanitarian icons to help relief workers present emergency and crisis-related information quickly and simply.

El brote de cólera en Malí y Níger agrava la situación provocada por la sequía

Unas 60 personas han muerto recientemente en el Sahel, donde se han registrado más de 2.800 casos en lo que va de año, por una epidemia de cólera que está afectando sobre todo a la población infantil y se está propagando por los alrededores del río Níger.

Acción contra el Hambre, en colaboración con Unicef, está repartiendo kits de higiene a más de 2.000 familias de la ciudad de Gao, en el norte de Malí, para atajar la epidemia.

UNHCR operational highlights

• Protection of and assistance to 43,708 refugees and asylum seekers, including 20,810 Congolese (DRC) refugees living in Bwagiriza (Ruyigi), Gasorwe (Muyinga) and Musasa (Ngozi) refugee camps, 256 Rwandans living in Butare (Rutana) site, as well as 69 refugees of various other nationalities in the camps. Of these 43,708 refugees and asylum seekers, UNHCR Burundi also provides protection and assistance to 22,573 in urban areas, of which approximately 98% are Congolese (DRC);

• Repatriation and reintegration of Burundian refugees;
