Manual on Field Practice in Internal Displacement: Examples from UN Agencies and Partner Organisations of Field-Based Initiatives Supporting Internally Displaced Persons

Describing a number of activities that can be undertaken in situations of international displacement so as to strengthen the link between assistance and protection activities, this manual aims to support efforts by governments and agencies to implement the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement.

Handbook for Applying the Guiding Principles of Internal Displacement

To facilitate the application of the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, setting forth the rights of IDPs and the obligations of governments, non-state actors and international organizations, this handbook spells out their meaning in non-technical language.

A resource for field staff working with IDPs, it seeks to raise awareness of the needs of the internally displaced, measure conditions on the ground, train staff in working with the displaced and promote compliance by governments and non-state actors with the provisions of the Guiding Principles.

Enhancing the Nutritional Quality of Relief Diets - Workshop Proceedings

An international workshop with 105 participants from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), industry, United States Government, academia, and development assistance agencies was held to discuss and recommend strategies to improve the nutritional quality of diets for refugees and displaced persons in emergency and relief situations. Over the past two decades, frequently cited evidence has drawn attention to the inadequate levels of calories, vitamins, and minerals in food aid, and nutritional deficiency diseases are still too often prevalent in relief situations.
