UKRAINE | Life in a Buffer Zone
Description: Since the conflict began in eastern Ukraine in April 2014, MSF has supported more than 350 health facilities on both sides of the contact line. Due to the unstable and insecure environment, anxiety related disorders continue to be the main issue among mental health patients, followed by depression. Among patients MSF sees for general medical consultations, cardio-vascular diseases and diabetes are the two main conditions being reported. In the 25 locations MSF mobile teams are working in, more than 36,800 medical consultations and 5,980 individual and group mental health consultations have been carried out. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare.
