World Malaria Day 2017: bringing bednets to families in Chad
Description: Adam and his family live in a camp in South Chad and have just received 3 insecticide-treated bednets. Malaria is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Chad, with over 97 percent of the population at risk. 13 million people will be reached with insecticide-treated bednets ahead of the rainy season. UNDP and the Global Fund are supporting the government of Chad to help reach some of the most remote and high-risk areas of the country.

World Malaria Day 2017: malaria prevention in conflict-affected regions of Chad
Description: Yongou and her family left their home and all their belongings two years ago when Boko Haram attacked a nearby village. Now they live in a camp for internally displaced people in Lake Chad. To ensure families like Yongou’s have the means to protect themselves, UNDP and the Global Fund are supporting the government of Chad to carry out a massive bednet distribution campaign across the country. 13 million people will be reached with insecticide-treated bednets in some of the hardest-to-reach and conflict-affected regions of Chad.

Bangladesh: ICRC distributes food to 19,000 displaced Myanmar people
Description: The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), supported by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has started distributing food assistance to more than 19,000 people. These people from Myanmar's Rakhine state have been residing in host communities in Bangladesh since October 2016. The ten day distribution, in the rural villages, was launched on April 10 in Teknaf area. The food ration should cover the needs of the families for one month. The assistance came following a joint needs assessment done by BDRCS and ICRC that indicated the dire food insecurity among the new arrivals from Myanmar. The BDRCS & ICRC have been responding to most urgent needs of the families from Rakhine since the beginning of the crisis. They provide health services in two major health complexes in Teknaf and Ukhia. There are also attempts to restore family links services.

From DRC to Kentucky: Kristin Davis tells Catherine’s resettlement story
Description: Kristin Davis first met Congolese refugee Catherine and her baby Makena in Gihembe refugee camp in Rwanda. Catherine had been living in the camp for 20 years and was desperate to join her family, who had already been resettled to the United States. Kristin was reunited with Catherine a few months later in Lexington, Kentucky, following her resettlement from Rwanda. This video tells her story. Adrian Banda: Village Doctor
Description: Adrian Banda carries the weight of his world on his shoulders. He is a slender man with chiseled high cheek bones and solemn eyes. Quiet and contemplative from afar, Adrian transforms when he speaks. Both fast and determined, a current of words cascade out of his mouth in his local dialect, Chichewa, and broken English. Adrian is a man who wears many hats. He is a farmer, a husband, a father of five and a guardian to another dependent who lives in his home. Adrian also serves his community as a volunteer community health worker. With a health system choked by a shortage of doctors and other health workers, volunteers like Adrian are essential in their communities.
