IMF Country Report No. 09/69
- Belize suffered considerable damage
from two tropical systems during the 2008 hurricane season. Tropical storm
Arthur in late May and heavy rains from a tropical depression in late October
resulted in massive flooding across Belize and loss of lives and property.
Damage to housing and infrastructure together with losses of output and
export earnings and increases in imports, are estimated at 4.8 percent
of GDP.
