13 Aug 2012 - Tropical storm Ernesto killed 12 people and affected 10,000 families in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. In Guatemala, 251 people were affected and 51 houses damaged in Peten Department.

Mexico: Hurricane Carlotta (as of 26 June 2012) - Location Map (EN/SP)

On 15 June, Hurricane Carlotta hit the coastal areas of Oaxaca state, where 103 municipalities were declared under a state of emergency. A total of 12,000 families were affected. At least seven people died and 29,000 houses were damaged.

  • El documento se encuentra disponible a instituciones de Gobierno, Ayuntamientos y a la población

El Atlas de riesgos del estado, con el que cuenta el Sistema Estatal de Protección Civil, es una herramienta que permite la toma de decisiones adecuada y oportuna, buscando realizar acciones de prevención.

Popocatepetl Volcano, Mexico, 08 May 2012

The Federal District's Public Safety Secretariat activated its strategic plan on 07 May 2012 as eruptions of Mexico's massive Popocatepetl volcano are ongoing. Explosions, ash showers and lava/debris flow have been reported since 16th April 2012.

Mexico: Cold Weather Damages Crops in Sinaloa (18 Feb - 05 Mar 2011)

The image shows vegetation growth during that 18 Feb - 05 Mar 2011 compared with the average growth for the same time between 2000 and 2010. The deep brown tones near the shore are crop areas that were growing significantly less than average.
