1. DHA/UNDP RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE IN RABAT REPORTS THAT MOROCCO IS SUFFERING SEVERE FLOODING FOLLOWING TWO MONTHS OF ALMOST UNINTERRUPTED HEAVY RAINS. MORE RAIN IS EXPECTED, ACCORDING TO COMMITTEE SET UP AT MINISTRY OF INTERIOR TO MONITOR RAINFALL AND WEATHER FORECASTS.

2. IFRC REPORTED ON 26 JANUARY THAT SEVEN PREFECTURES AND ELEVEN PROVINCES IN PARTICULAR HAD BEEN BADLY AFFECTED AND THAT SOME 60,000 PEOPLE HAD LOST THEIR HOMES OR BELONGINGS IN FLOODS.

Contrary to the prevailing tension visible during mid-December 1995 which led most relief operations to a standstill, the reporting period signals the successful resumption of relief activities in the Angolan countryside.
