Repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan increased by 19% compared to last week’s figure of 574. The return of undocumented Afghans decreased by 38% compared to 1,091 individuals that returned between 4 and 10 June 2017.

Some 90% (610 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 95% (647 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Cross-border movement remains low during Ramadan. Repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan decreased by 32% compared to last week’s figure of 850. The return of undocumented Afghans also decreased by 42% compared to 1,888 individuals that returned between 28 May and 3 June 2017.

Some 81% (888 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 93% (536 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

As expected, the start of the month of Ramadan saw a massive decline in cross-border movement.
Repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan decreased by 83% compared to last week’s figure of 5,066. The return of undocumented Afghans also decreased by 63% compared to 5,088 individuals that returned between 21 and 27 May 2017.

Some 84% (1,595 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance. Also, 97% (827 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

During the week of 26 May to 01 June, 583 families returned to North Waziristan Agency. Returns will be halted for the month of Ramazan, and will continue after the Eid holiday.

During the reporting week, repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan decreased by 13% compared to last week’s figure of 5,828. The return of undocumented Afghans increased by 11% compared to 4,564 individuals that returned between 14 and 20 May 2017. Chaman border re-opened on 27 May after a closure of 22 days.

Some 98% (4,976 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance. Also, 98% (4,956 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

During the week of 19 to 25 May, 840 families returned to Khyber, North Waziristan and South Waziristan Agencies.

During the week of 12 to 18 May, 348 families returned to Khyber, and South Waziristan Agencies. Returns to NWA were halted as of 02 May for the return Pakistan refugee families from Afghanistan, but are scheduled to continue on 23 May.

The return of undocumented Afghans also increased by 3% compared to 4,410 individuals that returned between 7 and 13 May 2017. Chaman border remained closed during the week. All returns took place via Torkham.

Some 98% (4,471 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance. Also, 97% (5,674 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

During the reporting week, repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan increased by 20% compared to last week’s figure of 3,461. The return of undocumented Afghans decreased by 24% compared to 5,781 individuals that returned between 29 April and 6 May 2017. Chaman border remained closed during the week. All returns took place via Torkham.

Some 98% (4,338 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance. Also, 98% (4,085 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

During the week of 05 to 11 May, 637 families returned to Khyber, South Waziristan Agencies. Returns to NWA were halted as of 02 May for the return Pakistan refugee families from Afghanistan.

12 May 2017 description

During the reporting week, repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan decreased by 9% compared to last week’s figure of 3,814. The return of undocumented Afghans increased by 2% compared to 5,653 individuals that returned between 23 and 29 April 2017. Chaman border remains closed since 5 May halting all cross-border movement including Afghan returns.

Some 94% (5,438 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 97% (3,361 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

04 May 2017 description

During the reporting week, repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan increased by 14% compared to last week’s figure of 3,347. The return of undocumented Afghans decreased by 14% compared to 6,551 individuals that returned between 16 and 22 April 2017.

Some 89% (5,004 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 97% (3,689 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

During the reporting week, repatriation of registered refugees to Afghanistan decreased by 9% compared to last week’s figure of 3,678. The return of undocumented Afghans also decreased by 22% compared to 8,428 individuals that returned between 9 and 15 April 2017. Some 89% (5,837 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided needs-based assistance by WFP, WHO,
UNICEF, and UNFPA in Afghanistan. Registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance by UNHCR Afghanistan.
