Le 13 août, des hommes armés ont pris d'assaut un restaurant dans la capitale Ouagadougou et ont tué 18 personnes et blessé 22 autres, selon le gouvernement. Deux attaquants ont été tués. Une attaque similaire dans un café voisin en janvier 2016 avait fait 30 morts.

On 13 August, gunmen stormed a restaurant in the capital Ouagadougou and killed 18 people, and wounding 22 others, according to the government. Two attackers were killed. A similar attack on a nearby cafe in January 2016 killed 30 people.

GENEVA, 8 August 2017 - Rapid urbanisation and climate change are major drivers of the many forest fires which continue to sweep across parts of southern Europe claiming many lives and significant economic losses, according to a leading expert.

Euronews reports that an area the size of Luxembourg has been destroyed by 677 forest fires this year across the European Union, an increase of 215% over the yearly average between 2008 and 2016.

La alerta naranja continúa en el departamento a raíz de que los focos de quema ascendieron, según la Gobernación, quien pidió a la Autoridad de Bosques y Tierra realizar una pausa administrativa en los permisos de quemas para evitar riesgos.

El sistema de Alerta Temprana registró 291 focos de quema en solo mediodía, por lo que la alerta naranja se mantiene en el departamento. Cinthia Asin, secretaria de Medio Ambiente de la Gobernación, informó que han solicitado a la Autoridad de Bosques y Tierra (ABT) hacer una pausa administrativa para evitar riesgos altos de incendios.

Efectivos del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Quito combaten un incendio forestal en el cerro Puntas, localizado en la parte oriental del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito. El fuego se reportó pasadas las 09:00 de este jueves 3 de agosto de 2017.

Hasta esa elevación se han desplegado 15 efectivos, dos camionetas y dos motos de intervención rápida para tratar de extinguir las llamas.

More than 150 ethnic Karenni people have been left without shelter or household supplies after their houses were razed to the ground in a fire at a refugee camp in northern Thailand.

“The fire broke out in Ward 5 of Karenni Refugee Camp (1) at around 10pm on 5 July,” said a refugee in the camp, speaking by telephone to DVB. “About 30 houses were burnt down, but another 30 homes were dismantled to prevent the fire from spreading.”

MAE HONG SON - A fire destroyed living quarters at a refugee camp in Muang district late on Wednesday night, leaving about 200 Karen residents homeless.

A total of 36 huts in Ban Mai Nai Soi camp’s pok (living zone) 5 in Pang Moo were reduced to ashes by the blaze, that broke out about 10.45pm on Wednesday. There were no reports of casualties, Pisit Kitbunanan, chief of Muang district of Mae Hong Son, said after inspecting the devastated area on Thursday morning.

The cause of the fire was not known. Authorities were investigating.

An emergency team from Qatar Red Crescent's (QRCS) mission in Lebanon immediately intervened to help the Syrian refugees affected by a fire at the Al-Raed refugee camp, Mandara, Beqaa.

Started at one tent, the big fire exploded a gas cylinder and a heating oil tank, destroying the camp's 87 tents, which accommodated 102 displaced families.

UNAMID’s Joint Special Representative (JSR), Jeremiah Mamabolo, accompanied by Amy Martin, UN Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for Darfur, and Major-General Fida Hussain, Acting Force Commander, UNAMID, visited the victims of the recent fire at Korma camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs), North Darfur, on 15 June 2017. The fire occurred on 9 June and destroyed some 700 homes; five displaced persons were killed as well.

Among the other hazard, fire caused injury of 50 garment workers as well, guttered 10,000 sq. feet warehouse and 28 shops with financial loss amounting to approximately BDT 6.2 million. 8 people died in Sylhet, Jhalokathi, Kishoreganj and Munshiganj due to lightening throughout April.
