Aim of the Program
The MAS in Peace & Conflict Transformation program provides a holistic understanding of civilian peacebuilding aimed at transforming violent conflict by peaceful means, promoting peace, rebuilding societies affected by war and preventing violence from re-erupting. This postgraduate MAS program bridges current academic findings with the latest insights from peacebuilding practice.
UNICEF is releasing a new Ebola Safety e-Course, developed by DHR/OLDS in collaboration with various specialists.
This course provides key facts about the current Ebola outbreak, promotes safe preventative practices, and offers an overview of the support in place for staff.
The course can be of particular interest to colleagues planning to travel to areas currently affected by the outbreak, and those already working in the region. While it contains some UNICEF/UN specific information, most of the course can apply to other humanitarian actors' staff.

ECB’s Toward Resilience Guide has emerged as the recognized ‘go to’ resource on incorporating disaster risk reduction & climate change adaptation principles into relief and development programming. Developed in collaboration with members of the ECB Project and DisasterReady.org,**Toward Resilience: Principles in Practice** is a 75 minute e-learning course that helps learners understand how these principles can be put into practice in areas where communities are threatened by hazards and the effects of climate change.
The Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative (the Dallaire Initiative) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) have opened a new front in the global fight against the recruitment and use of child soldiers. Co-developed over two years, E-Learning course: Child Soldiers and Security Forces, builds on the Dallaire Initiative’s first of its kind handbook and core competencies that focuses on prevention measures and equipping security sector actors with the necessary tools, tactics and knowledge to counteract the use and recruitment of child soldiers.

This electronic learning facilities will help you to learn Disaster Management aspects through easy, succinct and updated materials and contents. Introduction to Disaster Management and Comprehensive Disaster Management are two parts that comprise this e-Learning course. The first part introduces the learners with fundamentals and primary concepts and methods of disaster management, while the second part includes more critical and advanced aspects. The learners could choose either Bangla or English language to undertake the course.
The new two-day, first level pre-deployment Ebola training course is available for all medical and non-medical humanitarian aid workers preparing an assignment in the countries affected by the Ebola outbreak. The training offers an initial insight into the characteristics of Ebola virus disease and the current outbreak, as well as the management of an Ebola Treatment Centre. A strong focus is put on practical exercises with personal protective equipment (dress and undress) and barrier nursing.

The 3 hours interactive course, focuses on security and safety related aspects for Red Cross Red Crescent personnel undertaking humanitarian field operations. It includes a number of modules such as security and beneficiary interaction, field movement, vehicle safety, telecommunications, working in insecure environments, health, personal security and Red Cross Red Crescent security framework.
The course is free of charge and applies to any humanitarian local staff or volunteer interested in enhancing their security knowledge.
