- Les conflits armés qui ont affecté l'ouest du Darfour, en février, ont occasionné la fuite de plus de 13 000 personnes du Darfur vers Birak et ses environs, à l'est du Tchad. Dans le courant du mois de mars, le Haut-commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés (UNHCR) a effectué le transfert de 5 357 nouveaux réfugiés

Myanmar: Three months after Burma cylone survivors are still in need

Three months after Cyclone Nargis hit Burma some survivors have still received little aid.

Christian Aid, through its local partners, has been able to help 200,000 people with food, shelter, medicine and clean water.

However much more needs to be done and Christian Aid partners are still finding people who need urgent assistance.

One partner received a request in July for emergency food support for more than 50,000 people in 59 villages which are inland and inaccessible by boat. Very little help had reached them until then.

In 2008, Sudan continues to cope with the effects of conflict, displacement, and insecurity countrywide. Since 2003, a complex emergency in Sudan's western region of Darfur has affected nearly 4.3 million people, including more than 2.4 million internally displaced persons (IDPs). In Darfur, fighting among armed opposition factions, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), militias, and ethnic groups is ongoing. UNICEF external situation report Myanmar cyclone Nargis, 01 Aug 2008

The government of Myanmar organized a major field visit to the affected areas in Irrawaddy Division on Tuesday (29th). About 150 representatives of foreign missions, UN agencies (including UNICEF), INGOs and the media joined the trip. Delivering water in Sudan

The lush rural farmland of Raglan and the isolated rural desert areas of western Sudan could not be more different but New Zealand Red Cross aid worker Michael Carter is accustomed to both landscapes.

The Regional Humanitarian Funding Update provides a quarterly overview of funding levels and trends in the 14 countries of the Central and East Africa region (CEA) based on data reported to the Financial Tracking System (FTS)
