In Mali, the ICRC brings aid to people suffering the combined effects of the armed conflict and the food crisis.

Caring for the sick and injured

In northern Mali, the ICRC has made access to emergency care easier for war-wounded people. The hospital in Gao is once again operational thanks to ICRC support.

The ICRC supports health-care facilities in Mali and was on hand for the national polio-vaccination day.

Visiting detainees

La situation de milliers de déplacés à Tissi, à l’est du Tchad, demeure préoccupante. En l’absence de structure médicale appropriée, le CICR vient d’évacuer 19 blessés graves par avion vers l’hôpital régional d’Abéché où son équipe chirurgicale les a pris en charge.

Plusieurs dizaines de milliers de personnes ont afflué depuis le 5 avril vers Tissi au Tchad en raison des affrontements intercommunautaires dans la région d’Um Dukhun, à l’ouest du Darfour. Des Soudanais et des Tchadiens sont arrivés dans l’est du Tchad en provenance du Darfour.

Refugees from the fighting in Syria continue to stream into Lebanon. The ICRC is determined to do its part in the effort to help them.

Geneva/Dakar (ICRC) – Delegates of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited 12 people today who have been held since 3 May by the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance (MFDC). All 12, three of whom are women, had been involved in mine-clearance operations in Casamance, a region beset by a protracted armed conflict.

As the fighting continues to rage across different parts of Syria, causing hundreds of casualties every day, the timely evacuation of the dead and the wounded is becoming a daily challenge in the areas hardest hit.

En février 2013, la Croix-Rouge malienne et le CICR ont apporté une assistance à des milliers de personnes au Mali. Ils leur ont fourni une aide directe en distribuant des secours, en vaccinant du bétail, en soutenant les services de santé, en reconstruisant des points d’eau ou en visitant des prisonniers. Ils ont également mené une action préventive, en organisant des séances de sensibilisation au droit international humanitaire à l’intention de plusieurs centaines de militaires.
