While the region saw a volcanic eruption, earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia; flooding and landslides in China, and Tropical Cyclone Giri in Myanmar, no humanitarian appeals were issued in response.

Both the Humanitarian Transitional Appeal in Nepal and the Common Humanitarian Action Plan in Sri Lanka ended at the close of 2010. A 2011 Joint Plan of Assistance for Sri Lanka is expected

Mother Rock - sadly no match for Mother Nature in Mongolia

Report
IFRC
9 November 2010

Ramsey A. Rayyis, regional representative for the American Red Cross

They bring offerings of biscuits, milk and rice, as well as traditional drinks to splash at her feet, before walking three-times clockwise around her temple whispering their dreams into her ears.

Some ask for wealth or love or a bright future for their children. Others, mostly the nomadic herdsmen, only ask for two things: a bountiful harvest and a benevolent winter.
