Evaluation of the International Organization for Migration’s Ongoing Activities on Support to the Flash Appeal for the Haiti Earthquake and Cholera Outbreak (Sida/IOM Agreement January 2010 – May 2011)

The purpose of this external evaluation is to assess the performance and whenever possible the outcome and impact of the activities carried out by IOM, with a main focus on funding received from Sida, in order to identify lessons learnt and good practices for IOM’s implementation of projects and management. The evaluation was planned to take place during the implementation in order to provide IOM Haiti programme managers with useful inputs that could be used as suggestions before the end of the project itself and for the implementation of other projects.

Joint Humanitarian and Early Recovery Update August 2011 - Report #35

I. SITUATION OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS

 By end August 2011, the total population returned to the Northern Province stood at 381,525 people (111,915 families) – this figure includes 213,041 people (66,682 families) displaced after April 2008 and 168,484 persons (47,104 families) displaced before April 20081.

Emergency aid for displaced families in Cauca

Cali (ICRC) – On 26 August the lnternational Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) distributed emergency aid to over 1,000 displaced people in Playa Rica, in the municipality of El Tambo (Cauca Department). The beneficiaries, who had arrived in the area in recent weeks from four different villages, had fled their homes owing to the fighting.
