FAO is monitoring the impact of the disaster
and activities for rehabilitation and restoration of sustainable livelihoods
in the agriculture and fisheries sectors to assist the country's devastated
economy. In April 2005, a mission visited Seychelles to assess the damage
and prepare, in close consultation with the government, projects to best
meet the needs of the victims and help restore their ways of living. In
June 2005, a technical backstopping mission from FAO's fisheries department
was fielded; FAO will be providing beneficiaries with agricultural inputs,
