Appeal history:

  • CHF150,000 was allocated on 24 January 2011, from the IFRC’s Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) to support the Tunisian Red Crescent (TRC) in its response to civil unrest in Tunisia.

  • Environ 125.000 enfants âgés de 6 à 59 mois sont ciblés pour une campagne de vaccination d'urgence contre la rougeole à Bangui du 22 au 26 mai, après que huit enfants ont été testés positifs pour la maladie en avril.

  • Solidarités International estime qu’environ 64 pour cent des ménages n’ont pas de réserves alimentaires tandis que 77 pour cent manquent des semences. Plus de la moitié des ménages consomment entre 0 et 1 repas par jour.

Central African Republic: Situation Report No. 17 (as of 24 May 2013)

Highlights

  • About 125,000 children aged 6 to 59 months are targeted for an emergency measles vaccination campaign in Bangui from 22 to 26 May, after eight children tested positive for the disease in April.

  • Solidarites International estimates that 64 per cent of the residents of Kabo do not have household food reserves while 77 per cent lack planting seed. Over half of households consume between 0 and one meal per day.

Bangladesh: Tropical Cyclone Emergency Appeal no. MDRBD013

This Emergency Appeal seeks CHF 2,789,432 in cash, kind, or services to support the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to assist 9,000 families (45,000 beneficiaries) for nine months, and will be completed by the end of February 2014. A Final Report will be made available by the end of May 2014 (three months after the end of the operation).

Nigeria: Floods Revised Emergency Appeal MDRNG014

This Revised Emergency Appeal revises the budget upwards to CHF 3,923,663 (from CHF 3,453,527) and extends the operation timeframe for an additional 3 months to 31 December 2013 to support the Nigerian Red Cross Society to respond to the remaining needs of communities affected by the floods. This operation will be completed by the end of December 2013 and a final report made available by end March 2014.

The conflict in Rakhine State started in June 2012 and resurged in October 2012 resulting in significant displacement. As of the beginning of April 2013, the number of people displaced in Rakhine State is at least 139,107. Approximately 111,000 IDPs are residing in Government designated camps while the rest are living in tents or with host families.

Mali : Urgence complexe Rapport de situation no 33 (23 mai 2013)

Faits saillants

• L’épidémie de choléra a fait sa réapparition au Mali. 21 cas ont été notifiés dans la région de Gao depuis le 8 mai.

• Le nombre des personnes en besoin d'assistance alimentaire immédiate est maintenant estimé à environ 1,4 million et celui des personnes à risque à environ 2,1 millions.

• Les personnes déplacées internes (PDI) sont estimées à 301 0271 par la commission Mouvement de Population au 21 mai tandis que les réfugiés Maliens dans les pays limitrophes étaient au nombre de 174 129 au 20 mai.

Somaliland Fact Sheet May 2013

Humanitarian overview

  • Drivers and features of the humanitarian situation: Recurrent droughts, flash floods and protracted displacement are the humanitarian issues of concern in Somaliland, which declared its independence in 1991. It has remained relatively stable, but a border dispute with neighbouring Puntland over areas in the regions of Sanaag and Sool has been a flash point and has hampered humanitarian access to the area.
