Mali : Urgence complexe Rapport de situation no 33 (23 mai 2013)

Faits saillants

• L’épidémie de choléra a fait sa réapparition au Mali. 21 cas ont été notifiés dans la région de Gao depuis le 8 mai.

• Le nombre des personnes en besoin d'assistance alimentaire immédiate est maintenant estimé à environ 1,4 million et celui des personnes à risque à environ 2,1 millions.

• Les personnes déplacées internes (PDI) sont estimées à 301 0271 par la commission Mouvement de Population au 21 mai tandis que les réfugiés Maliens dans les pays limitrophes étaient au nombre de 174 129 au 20 mai.

Mali: Complex Emergency Situation Report No. 33 (as of 23 May 2013)

Highlights

• Cholera has re-appeared in Mali. Since 8 May, 21 cases have been reported in the Gao region.

• Partners estimate that around 1.4 million people are in immediate need of food assistance. An additional 2.1 million people are at risk.

• According to the latest estimates from the Population Movements Commission and UNHCR, 301,027 IDPs1 are living in Mali (as of 21 May), and 174,129 Malian refugees are living in neighbouring countries (as of 20 May).

· This Emergency Appeal was initially launched on 1 July 2011 for CHF 3,758,917 for 8 months to assist 173,000 beneficiaries in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Abyei states following the eruption of conflict on 5 June 2011 between SPLM-N and Sudan Government armed forces in South Kordofan.

South Sudan Humanitarian Update January-April 2013

Syria Crisis Bi-Weekly Humanitarian Situation Report - Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey, 3 - 15 May 2013

Highlights

Nearly half of the 6.8 million people affected by the crisis in Syria are children. Over 1.5 million Syrians have already fled into neighboring countries. All are in urgent need of assistance. During the reporting period UNICEF and partners scaled up efforts in support of national immunization campaigns, ensuring that children across all affected countries continue to be vaccinated against preventable diseases.

  • New study shows that over a quarter of a million people died from food insecurity and famine between late 2010 and early 2012 and underlines the need to heed early warnings.

Malawi: Floods DREF operation n° MDRMW009 Update

Period covered by this update: 7 February to 3 May 2013.

Summary: CHF 326,090 was allocated from the IFRC’s Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) on 7 February 2013 to support the National Society in delivering assistance to some 16,370 beneficiaries (3,274 households) affected by floods.

With this operations update, a second allocation of CHF 4,603 from the DREF will be made to support a review of the intervention, making the total allocation from the DREF to the operation CHF 330,694.

Yemen Humanitarian Snapshot (as of 30 April 2013)

Over 182,000 IDPs have returned so far, of which about 146,000 are in 11 districts of Abyan Governorate. About 322,444 IDPs continue to be displaced in the north (Sana’a included) and only 36,845 returnees to Sa’ada Governorate. Ethiopian migrants with the hope of crossing over to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continue to migrate into Yemen.

South Sudan: Humanitarian Funding Update (as of 30 April 2013)

As of 30 April, the humanitarian appeal South Sudan CAP (in million $) Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) was 38 per cent funded. US$ 412 million was requested for projects of high immediate priority, out which $256 million has been secured to procure, transport and preposition emergency aid in remote locations before the rainy season. The humanitarian community appealed for $1.16 billion to address urgent humanitarian needs in South Sudan for 2013.
