BRASILIA. — A 30 mil ascienden este lunes los afectados por las intensas precipitaciones en el estado de Acre, que provocaron inundaciones en varios municipios de ese territorio, en la Región Norte de Brasil.

El más reciente reporte de la Defensa Civil estadual precisa que de los 30 mil damnificados, unos seis mil tuvieron que abandonar sus viviendas, debido a la inundación provocada por las fuertes lluvias de los últimos días que han elevado el nivel del Río Branco seis metros por encima de lo normal.

Rio de Janeiro – The government of the state of Rio de Janeiro decreed a state of emergency in three more muncipalities in the North and Northwestern regions of the state yesterday. They are: São Fidélis, Campos dos Goytacazes and Bom Jesus do Itabapoana.

Seven municipalities were already in a state of emergency (“situação de emergência”) in the same part of the state: Cardoso Moreira, Laje do Muriaé, Santo Antônio de Pádua, Aperibé, Itaperuna, Italva e Miracema.

Sapucaia, RJ – The federal highway, BR-393, that has been closed after being partially destroyed by flooding runs through the municipality of Sapucaia. The situation in the region has become critical. Following three days of landslides the latest reports are that 19 people have lost their lives due to the rains, floods and mudslides. At least nine homes in the town of Sapucaia, population slightly over 17,000, have been destroyed and even more homes are in danger of collapsing.

RIO DE JANEIRO — Al menos 28 personas perdieron la vida en Brasil, trece de ellas sepultadas por un alud de tierra, debido a las lluvias que azotan el sureste del país desde diciembre, según un nuevo balance oficial divulgado este martes.

La cifra total de fallecidos por la temporada de lluvias subió de 23 a 28 tras el hallazgo este martes de cinco cuerpos en una zona de viviendas sepultada por un deslizamiento de tierra en la localidad de Sapucaia, en el norte del estado de Rio de Janeiro, informó la Alcaldía.

Río de Janeiro, 10 ene (EFE).- El hallazgo de tres cadáveres elevó hoy a once el número de muertos por los deslizamientos de tierras ocurridos el lunes en la localidad brasileña de Sapucaia, en el Estado de Río de Janeiro, donde al menos diez personas están desaparecidas, informaron fuentes oficiales.

Las lluvias intensas causaron derrumbes en dos colinas que sepultaron ocho viviendas en la madrugada del lunes, mientras sus ocupantes dormían en ellas, y un automóvil en el que se había refugiado una familia, que está desaparecida.

BRASILIA — Brasil puso en marcha este lunes un plan especial de emergencia para hacer frente a una fuerte temporada de lluvias que deja más de una docena de muertos y coloca en alto riesgo a miles de personas en el sureste del país, anunció el gobierno.

La presidenta Dilma Rousseff ordenó movilizar las instituciones de socorro y realizar evacuaciones en las zonas en peligro ante los pronósticos de intensas lluvias en las siguientes 48 horas, informaron en rueda de prensa los ministros de Salud, Gobierno, Integración Nacional, y Ciencia y Tecnología.

Flooding and mudslides from days of heavy rain in southeastern Brazil has forced thousands to flee their homes.

In Rio de Janeiro state Thursday, authorities say flooding on the Muriae River caused a dike to break, sending water through the town of Campos do Goytacazes.

Officials say more than 4,000 people had to be evacuated.

Days of heavy rain have also caused flooding and mudslides in Minas Gerais state that have killed eight people and displaced at least 10,000 others.

Al menos 11 personas murieron, 2 están desaparecidas y decenas de miles fueron evacuadas en Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro y otros estados del sureste brasileño debido a las intensas lluvias que castigan la región desde comienzos de año.

Defensa Civil de Minas Gerais informó que 6 personas murieron, al menos dos están desaparecidas y 10.000 fueron retiradas de sus casas debido a las precipitaciones que afectaron la capital Belo Horizonte y más de 100 localidades del interior.

BRASILIA — Siete muertos, un desaparecido y 53 municipios en estado de emergencia dejan las lluvias de los últimos días en el sudeste de Brasil, según un nuevo balance de los cuerpos de socorro divulgado este martes.

La situación más grave se registra en el estado de Minas Gerais, donde siete personas han perecido a causa de deslizamientos o inundaciones, cuatro de ellas en los últimos dos días, informó la Defensa Civil.

La víctima más reciente fue un hombre en la ciudad de Guidoval que fue arrastrado por la corriente de un río, según el último boletín del organismo.
