Myanmar: Floods - Jul 2011

Disaster description

Torrential rains persisted from 7 until 9 Aug 2011 across the nation, causing floods in some Regions and States in Myanmar. Hundreds of families were evacuated and accommodated in temporary relief camps (Government, 10 Aug 2011).

On 19 Oct 2011, flash floods affected the Magway, Mandalay and Sagaing Regions. Authorities indicate that some 35,000 people were affected, and 78 either killed or missing. (OCHA, 24 Oct 2011)
