Subscribe to RSS feeds

What is RSS?

It stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is an easy way of receiving new content from your favourite sections of ReliefWeb. RSS feeds contain headlines, a summary and a link to the article/map on the website. Subscribing to an RSS feed keeps you up to date with the latest news, without having to constantly revisit the site to check for updates.
How do I use RSS?

You need a news reader (also called an ‘aggregator’), which will check for and inform you of new content in the RSS feed. For Windows users, there are applications such as FeedDemon, and for Mac OS X, there is NetNewsWire, NewsFire and Safari RSS. Firefox users can also download extensions such as Sage and Lektora to allow them to read RSS feeds in the browser. Alternatively, Google Reader is an online service which eliminates the need for downloading an application.

Can I make my own RSS feeds?

You can create your own RSS Feed by using the ReliefWeb search filters. Go to the Updates page. Refine your search by using the filters. Once you are satisfied with your search criteria, simply click on the RSS button at the bottom of the Search filters. You can do the same in the Jobs and Trainings sections.
