ACTED will extend humanitarian coverage to highly food insecure governorates
SANA’A [ACTED News] – 44% Yemeni households were identified as food insecure by end 2011, according to a World Food Programme-UNICEF nationwide survey. ACTED will tackle this crucial issue in the governorate of Ibb, Raymah and Ad-Dalee, where no other international humanitarian actor is involved in the field of food security while more than 50% of the households were reported food insecure. ACTED will provide vulnerable families with alternative sources of income and agricultural inputs to improve their access to food and strengthen their economic capacities. These actions will be combined with water, sanitation and hygiene activities in order to provide an integrated approach to combating malnutrition. This project is supported by the U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).
