This report examines activities undertaken in the UN in recent years on the issues of women's human rights and violence against women. For this purpose, it looks at the following questions:  

- Women's human rights
- Violence against women and
- Trafficking in women and girls
- Efforts of the UN regarding trafficking in women and girls
- Recent regional efforts regarding trafficking in women and girls
- Expert group meeting on trafficking in women and girls

The report treats women's human rights and violence against women in two separate parts and focuses primarily on one form of violence - trafficking in women and girls. The report concludes with a series of recommendations for consideration by the Commission on the Status of Women.
