This report examines the experiences of Médecins du Monde in the cases of Iraq, Somalia, the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Burundi, the Former Zaire, Chechnya and Kosovo, in terms of three fundamental objectives of humanitarian missions in times of violent conflict:
- Assessing needs
- Reaching the most vulnerable victims
- Supervising the aid provided to beneficiaries

The report aims to help make the protection of mankind the heart of the decision-making process through the mobilisation of public opinion and better use of political strategies.
