AusAID Annual Report 2001-2002
The year in review
Over the past year the Australian aid program has played a key role in tackling substantial challenges in the Asia-Pacific region. AusAID has worked effectively as part of broader Government responses to address priority issues for Australia, including in East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands,
Afghanistan and Indonesia. We influenced international partners in tackling the problem of HIV/AIDS in the region, and in promoting information and communications technology as tools for education and poverty reduction.
At an operational level, we took important extra steps to enhance aid effectiveness and impact.
