In Thua Thien-Hue, Mr.TeKimiti Gilbert – Landmine Program Director of APOPO humanitarian organization and Mr. Nguyen Van Cao - Thua Thien-Hue provincial Chairman of People's Committee has signed the memorandum on the implementation of the program "demining mines and unexploded ordnance in ALuoi district of Thua Thien-Hue province."
The project funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a total value of 257, 911 euros, consists of two main components that enhance demining capacity and build databases of land mines in Thua Thien Hue.
As planned, the project will carry out non-technical and technical surveys and conduct small scale clearing in A Luoi district. The project will also establish a database of bombs, mines and develop Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) in Thua Thien-Hue province.
Also in 2012, the German Foreign Ministry of Foregin Affairs also sponsored a project "Demining landmines and unexploded ordnance and poverty reduction in 2012" in Thuy Duong ward, Huong Thuy town and Hong Bac commune, A Luoi district.
