Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) through its Kampala South and Kampala East branches on December 1, 2009 participated in the World Aids International celebrations at Gaba Landing site.

The two branches were involved in the assembling of various categories of people like home care project beneficiaries volunteers and other branch volunteers and officers from both branches.

URCS did exhibit different materials and items like Information, Education and Communication materials, handicrafts by Positive Living clubs from the two branches. There was condom distribution before and during the celebrations. Condom distributions still continues. URCS thus takes part in the HIV prevention campaign through condom promotion and distribution.

Presentations for the day were made through music with HIV/AIDs awareness and prevention messages encouraging youths to abstain, faithfulness for the married, accessing Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission services for the pregnant women and sensitization on how to access Voluntary Counseling and Testing services after knowing one's status.
