Landslides kill 18 in Eastern Uganda

Rescue efforts comprising Uganda Red Cross Society, Office of Prime Minister and Bududa local government continue today (Tuesday) in search of any survivors.
As of June 25, 18 people had been confirmed dead and 9 injured by in a landslide that burried two villages of Namaaga and Bunakasala in Bumwalukani Sub County, Bududa District.
URCS team was on ground by yesterday afternoon digging the rubbles in search of any survivors or dead. The humanitarian agency's Secretary General Micheal Richard Nataka who also visited the scene said assessments are being conducted to establish the actual number of people affected.
Local area authorities indicate that each village has about 80-100 occupants.
