Humanitarian Pooled Funding (HPF)

The Protection sector technical review committee endorsed two proposals submitted under the Humanitarian Pooled Funding (HPF). Its USD 400,000 allocation in the first call for proposals will go towards strengthening child protection and GBV interventions.

Humanitarian Needs Overview

The protection working groups in southern Turkey and Damascus finalised a joint assessment of protection needs for the whole of Syria Humanitarian Needs Overview. The sectors jointly developed a protection severity scoring tool to be used as part of the assessment of humanitarian needs.

Protection Mainstreaming

From September to November, nine trainings were conducted on Protection Mainstreaming for 206 humanitarian actors, including a ToT for 14 sector and organizational focal points. The objective was to build the capacity of the humanitarian community to understand and adopt a protection mainstreaming approach to the Syria response. Close to a third (31%) of participants were female and the majority (89%) were Syrian staff. Trainings were held in Gaziantep and Antakya although a third of participants attended from within Syria. As a result of the trainings a Protection Mainstreaming Guidance Notes Package was developed and 15 recommendations identified by participants to support protection mainstreaming was shared with the humanitarian community.
