Yala and Pattani recover from flooding

YALA - PATTANI, 6 February 2017 (NNT) - Rubber farmers in Raman District of Yala Province have begun restoring their farms after floodwaters receded, while officials in Pattani Province are stepping up their reconstruction efforts for residents.

Officials from the 46th Military Circle and members of the public have joined in the reconstruction of a home in Pu Jud Subdistrict in Pattani which was completely destroyed during flooding. Pattani Governor Weeranan Pengchan along with Commander of the 46th Military Circle Capt Pochana Nuanboon are inspecting all reconstruction sites within the province.

Mr Weeranan said the province has prepared to fix up 26 homes using the military’s Engineer Department and through work with various groups under the Pracharat model.

In Yala Province, rubber farmers in Tha Thong Subdistrict in Raman District have begun cultivating their farmland after water levels returned to normal. Flooding in the area disrupted farming since December and rubber tapping activities only just resumed last week.
