Thai Red Cross: responding to the flood

The Thai Red Cross has been providing relief items to the southern provinces of Thailand which are suffering heavy flooding. On 20 December 2005, Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Secretary General of the Thai Red Cross society and Lt. Gen. Amnat Barlee, M.D, Director of Relief and Community Health Bureau as well as members of Provincial Red Cross Chapters visited flood victims in Songkhla and Phatthalung Provinces.
The relief items include 1,000 sets of relief kits, canned food, personal health care items, milk powder have been distributed to flood victims in the affected areas. Besides 2 Red Cross flat bottom boats have been evacuating victims from flooded areas in Songkhla Province.

Between 13-21 December 2005, the Thai Red Cross Society has provided 23,300 kits of relief items to flood victims in the 7 southern provinces including Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Narathiwat, Trang and Pattani Provinces. The relief items consisted of drinking water, salt, canned foods, first aid kits, candles, lighters, plastic bags, household medicines and medicines for foot disease.
