SATUN, 10 January 2017 (NNT) - Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has supported a program to provide hay to flood-hit farmers in the southern provinces of Surat Thani, Phatthalung, and Songkhla.

Weerachai Wirotesaengarun of Satun's Provincial Bureau of Animal Nutrition Development was joined by representatives from the Provincial Division of Veterinary Inspection and Quarantine, the Provincial Livestock Department, and the Bureau of Animal Nutrition Development to inaugurate the event. The program would dispatch 10 trucks carrying 2,000 bushels of hay to assist flood-hit farmers.

Mr Weerachai revealed that Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had coordinated with Chulalongkorn University and the Livestock Department to produce animal feed and establish a animal feed development center. The center incorporates technological advancements in feed development and supplies animal feed to farmers during times of crisis.

The current program had already sent 6,000 bushels of hay to Satun, Songkha, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat and plans to send another 2,000 bushels. Surveys revealed that livestock farms were not significantly affected, while livestock officials have already provided vaccination to livestock.
