Syria: Emergency Response Fund Monthly update – May 2013

OVERVIEW

The function of the ERF is to support the delivery of humanitarian response activities in Syria and the neighbouring countries through flexible and coordinated funding. The fund is being used for life- saving activities, urgent humanitarian needs and to fill critical gaps. Inside Syria the ERF supports the capacity of local NGOs and humanitarian partners to reach conflict affected areas and expand the humanitarian access. Eligible implementing partners include UN agencies, international and national NGOs, and Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement organizations.

To this reporting date, the ERF received $47.3 million in contributions and allocated $30.3 million to 99 projects. Currently there are 16 applications under consideration with a value of $4 million. The projected balance of the ERF stands at $12.5 million.
