Key information

· There are currently a total of 2,365,288 Syrian refugees in the region, including 1,175,548 children, according to UNHCR

· More than 1.7 million people fled in 2013; during the course of 2013 an average of more than 4,700 people fled every day

· There are approximately 9.3 million people in need of assistance in Syria (OCHA)

· There are approximately 6.5 million IDPs in Syria (OCHA)

· Approximately 100,000 people have been killed in the conflict (UN)

Highlights from Save the Children’s Response

· We are running a multi-sector response in Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria

· For our response we are appealing for USD 350 million until the end of 2015. We have received USD 175 million to date (50%).

· We plan to reach 1,700,000 beneficiaries in the region by the end of 2015. So far we have reached 976,054 people, including 648,454 children.
