Italy dispatches field hospital to help Syrian refugees in Jordan
Date : 7/3/2012 ROME, July 3 (KUNA) -- An Italian field hospital that will provide medical assistance to 25,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan has been dispatched on Tuesday upon orders by the Italian government in Rome.
"We are close to them (Syrian refugees) by supporting the action of the international community which is looking for a solution to the crisis and by providing help to a population struck by a humanitarian tragedy which is increasingly unbearable," Italian foreign minister Giulio Terzi said in a press statement.
"The field hospital is fully equipped with specialized diagnostic laboratories," the Italian minster said, adding "around 100 people could be treated simultaneously." Terzi noted that a team of medical experts from Italy is scheduled to arrive in the Kingdom this week to establish the field hospital in Jordanian Mafraq Governorate, 80km northeast of the capital.
