Highlights

  • Syria: During the reporting period, IOM established a Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in Rural Damascus expected to offer health services to 4,800 individuals in the coming months. Furthermore, IOM’s hub in Turkey shipped and transported sets of NFIs and tents for vulnerable households in Aleppo and Idleb governorates.

  • Lebanon: IOM continued the implementation of its social stability community support projects in the North. During the reporting period, 100 displaced Syrians and affected Lebanese youths repaired and rehabilitated public schools in Wadi Khaled, and 40 beneficiaries conducted rehabilitation works in Tebbene area in Tripoli.

  • Iraq: IOM continues to support Syrian refugees and Iraqi returnees fleeing from Syria. Since the beginning of the crisis, IOM has provided transportation to over 100,000 refugees, NFIs to over a quarter million beneficiaries, and livelihood support for over 5,000 beneficiaries.

  • Jordan: In September, 24 Jordanian border guards attended a five-day Humanitarian Border Management, and Counter Trafficking training. Since January 2016, a total of 350 border guards have participated in these training sessions.

  • Turkey: At the request of the Turkey Prime Ministry of Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, IOM provided 14,914 refugees with inter-camp transportation to move them and their belongings to temporary shelters, while their old tents were being replaced in preparation for the winter months.
