Sudan: Health authority to start fumigating areas affected by rain in Khartoum

The Khartoum State Minister of Health, Barmina Awrial, said that his ministry will conduct a campaign to spray pesticides in the areas affected by heavy rain, in order to fight insects. Awrial told Miraya FM that an emergency room at the state is ready to respond to any outbreak of water born diseases in the capital.

Awrial added that the Ministry of Health, in Collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure, is working to dry up schools that were flooded by the rain.

He pointed out that the one-week cessation of studies is a preemptive move for the safety of students in case of any collapse of school buildings.

Earlier, the Sudanese Community for Red Crescent has warned in a press statement that the capital might face a catastrophe if humanitarian aid is not delivered as early soon possible.
