Pro-government militia opened fire on three persons at the Hashaba gold mine in Central Darfur, killing one and injuring the other two on Tuesday early in the morning, witnesses claim.

As it appears, the gunmen were trying to loot the victims in the mine located 15 kilometers northwest of Nertiti, also in Central Darfur, Radio Dabanga has learned.

Aisha Yahiya Mohamed Abkar died of gunshot wounds, while Ahmed Ibrahim and Assadig Mukhtar Yahiya were severely injured on their legs.

Ibrahim was transferred to a hospital in Nyala, South Darfur, and Yahiya to a hospital in Nertiti, sources said.

Although the police was informed about the incident, none of its forces visited the crime scene, witnesses told Radio Dabanga.
