HIGHLIGHTS

• Some 700 South Sudanese who have been stranded in Khartoum since 2011 start their journey to Aweil, South Sudan.

• HAC reports that thousands of Sudanese refugees in the border areas of Sudan and Ethiopia are expected to return to Blue Nile in 2014.

• Continuing fighting between SAF and SPLM-N in parts of South Kordofan continues to affect civilians, with several people killed, injured and displaced over the past week.

• In Sudan, according to a new UNICEF report, the births of 59.3 per cent of all children under the age of five are registered.
