JUBA [ACTED News] – Sudanese refugees in South Sudan are being given the opportunity to start up activities to ensure their own survival. With seeds and tools provided by ACTED with support from local authorities and the United Nations Refugees Agency (UNHCR), refugees from South Kordofan, Sudan, to Unity State, South Sudan, will be able to grow basic food supplies, fostering in turn their self-reliance.

On 20 Feb 2012, an ACTED representative met with the national director of the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Committee (SSRRC) about livelihoods in Unity State. The first steps of future co-operation were agreed upon, and the variety of actors to be involved in the project was discussed. ACTED is expecting to co-operate not only with the SSRRC, but also with county authorities, state level Ministry of Agriculture representatives and local authorities in the implementation of this project.
