Special program by Rehab Ministry to assist war affected

The Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Ministry will provide assistance to people who were badly affected by violence during the terrorist war under an Inter-Ministerial Program implemented by the Rehabilitation Authority.

According to Rehabilitation Authority Working Director D.K. Jinadasa, several activities have been jointly organised by the Rehabilitation Authority and Ampara District Secretariat in Thangawelauthampura and Kanchikudichcharu in Thirukkovil Divisional Secretariat division, Ampara. The launching ceremony of the program will be held on July 15 at 10.00 a.m. under the patronage of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera and Deputy Minister Chandrasiri Muthukumarana.

A CTB transportation service from Thirukkovil to Thangawelauthampuram will commence under this program. A foundation stone will also be laid for the construction of the Thangawelauthampuram Hindu Kovil.

Damaged houses and the common hall will also be reconstructed under the program. An electric fence will be constructed to avoid human elephant conflict and agro wells will also be constructed.

Bicycles and agricultural loans will also be distributed among schoolchildren.
