More assistance for resettled people

Continuing their humanitarian initiatives to uplift the livelihood of the resettled people of the North, security forces in Jaffna donated a consignment of fishing nets to the fishing community at Senthankulam in Naguleshvaram recently.

The fishing apparatus each valued at Rs. 35,000.00 were distributed among seventeen fisher families in the village. The nets were sponsored by 'Friends', a Non Governmental Organization functioning in the North.

In another event the students of Ramanathapuram Maha Vidyalaya in Kilinochchi were gifted with computers by security forces in Kilinochchi recently. The initiative to upgrade the computer unit of the school was taken with a view to enhance the Information Technology knowledge of the children in the region.

Under the present education policy much emphasis is paid to the promotion of Information Communication Technology in schools around the Island. Recognizing the need for computers security forces authorities made available these valuable computers to the school. The computers were handed over to school at a function organized by school authorities.
