COLOMBO, Nov 28, 2001 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) has approved 400,000 U.S. dollars to provide agricultural and horticultural inputs to drought affected farmers in three districts in the south of Sri Lanka, the official Daily News reported on Wednesday.

FAO Director General Jacque Diouf has approved this under an emergency project using FAO's Technical Cooperation resources in response to a request by the Sri Lankan government to obtain assistance to restore the deteriorated socio-economic situation in Hambantota, Ratnapura and Moneragala districts.
