South Sudan Crisis Regional Cross-Border Situation Report #18, 07 May 2014
Heavy fighting in South Sudan, particularly in the north east, has resulted in significant cross-border population movements, especially into Ethiopia.
Since mid-December, more than 320,000 South Sudanese have arrived in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
The regional inter-agency contingency plan, as initiated at a meeting in Nairobi on 29-30 April, is being finalized. WFP in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Sudan are planning for “most likely” and “worst case” scenarios in terms of numbers of refugees and requirements to meet the agreed minimum standards.
WFP requires USD 64 million for the next six months to assist all refugees in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
