Highlights:

  • Humanitarian partners are responding to the needs of thousands of people in Unity and Upper Nile who have fled fighting in neighbouring Sudan.

  • Clashes and inter-communal tensions in Jonglei cause displacements, heightens insecurity and hampers humanitarian assistance delivery.

  • About 60,000 people are estimated to live in the area south of Bahr el Arab/Kiir River, including in Agok, where humanitarian assistance is ongoing.

  • Approximately 2.7 million South Sudanese will require food aid in 2012.
