Overall Security Situation
• Armed conflict in March/April resulted in a series of aerial bombardments. Unity state most affected. But aerial attacks reported also inWarrap, Northern Bahr el Ghazal andWestern Bahr el Ghazal
• On 24th April the HCT upgraded the operational mode from preparedness to crisis response mode. This means more attention to staff safety and security. Non essential staff were evacuated from Bentiu. More intense consultation and regular meetings for the clusters.
• Although both countries have committed to implement UNSC resolution, the situation remains tense and there is military build-up both sides of the border
• At end of April, state of emergency was declared along the border on Sudan side, completely sealing off the border from any trade flows from Sudan.
