Hostilities in South Sudan continued for a second month, with over half a million people displaced by the violence. Active fighting centred largely in Central Equatoria, Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile states. The largest groups of displaced people are in Lakes State and 8 UN bases across the country. Over 112,200 people have crossed into neighbouring countries in search of refuge. A cessation of hostilities was signed on 23 January.
